Disgraced Gillian on song for comeback

"Twins," aka Hong Kong actress-singer Gillian Chung (left) and Charlene Choi, yesterday jump for joy during a news conference promoting upcoming concerts in Hong Kong. Chung will reunite with Choi for two gigs as part of her comeback from a sex scandal.
HONG Kong actress-singer Gillian Chung yesterday announced she would reunite with her former band mate for two concerts, as her comeback from a sex-photo scandal gained momentum.

Chung was one of eight Hong Kong female stars who was seen performing sex acts with Canadian-Chinese entertainer Edison Chen in nude pictures leaked onto the Internet in 2008.

The pictures, stolen off Chen's laptop, created an uproar in the Chinese-speaking world and derailed the careers of the stars in the photos.

Chung has mounted a comeback, signing commercial endorsements and appearing in a play in August.

She recently finished shooting the romance "Ex," which will premiere as the closing movie at the Hong Kong International Film Festival on April 6.

Yesterday she appeared with former band mate Charlene Choi to announce two reunion concerts for "Twins," the pairing that first catapulted them to stardom.

"We've changed a lot," Chung said without mentioning the scandal directly. "We were separated for a long time. We dealt with very different situations."

They will perform in Hong Kong on April 16-17.
